back to basics! luxury base week: guerlain lingerie de peau aqua nude foundation

guerlain lingerie de peau aqua nude foundation review and swatches

Hello lovelies! This week we're going back to basics (get it? get it?) with Luxury Base Week--where I will be reviewing a different high-end base product every day. PS. Next week is Drugstore Base Week to make up for the damage that this week could do to our bank accounts...!

Today I've got a review of the Guerlain Lingerie de Peau Aqua Nude Foundation. I've been road testing this for 6 weeks now, and I've definitely got some thoughts on this product.

So how does it perform?

The formula is very runny and slightly perfumed (if you're sensitive to fragrance in foundation, then you might want to steer clear--but it has never bothered my super sensitive rosacea skin, FYI). In the swatch picture, I am showing the shade 01.

I picked up this foundation at the airport on the way to our honeymoon in Spain and Morocco, so I've been road testing this from North African climes to Scottish...and I'm not sure this foundation is worth the money.

I've found the absolute best way to apply this is with a damp beauty sponge (I'm loving this one* from Unicorn Cosmetics at the moment). When applied with a brush or fingers, I find it looks patchy and doesn't blend out well--highlighting texture on my skin. It has a sheer finish, but it's more matte than dewy. I would describe it as a matte version of the Glossier Skin Tint--but with slightly more coverage.

Pros and Cons?

Pros: I love the soft matte glow it gives. If you're having a good skin day, this is going to even things out just enough that your skin is perfected. It's undetectable on the skin as well--when applied properly, that is (see above).

Cons: It's not really buildable, so when applying a second layer to cover my rosacea, it starts to really look cakey and highlight skin texture. Again, this is for when you're having a good skin day.

Is it worth the price tag?

In my opinion, this just isn't worth the price tag unless you already have perfect skin because it's not buildable and the coverage is so sheer. Will I finish it? Yes, for sure...I'll just have to go ham with the concealer. Will I buy it again? Probably not.

Have you guys tried the Guerlain Lingerie de Peau Aqua Nude Foundation? What are your thoughts?
