I've gotta come clean: I really didn't want to like Glossier Lidstar. I was really hoping they'd start with matte eyeshadows...and I always get my hackles up a little bit when there's a big hyped release.

But I figured I'd order one and see how it went...and I'm not 100 percent sold. But gosh darn, I do like Lidstar after all. There are a few things I'd change. Read on for my full review...

How does it perform?

Glossier Lidstar in cub is a warm rose gold. It's dispensed via a doe-foot applicator, which I find brings out slightly too much product when removed from the (admittedly awesome) packaging.

It blends like a dream. An absolute bloody dream. It's super easy to achieve a sheered-out wash of colour that fades through the crease. It is also so darn buildable.

I have extremely oily eyelids, so I was very sceptical of Glossier's claim that Lidstar would last 12 hours without a primer. I've had it on for 4.5 hours and it still looks pretty much new. I will keep you guys posted on the lasting power issue when I've had it for longer!

Pros and Cons?

To boil it down, the pros are that it is a blendable, buildable warm pigment that seems to be pretty long-lasting so far.

For me, the con is that it definitely has a noticeable shimmer running through it. If you like shimmery eyeshadows, that's awesome...but I'm more of a matte eye girl.

That having been said, it's not the most noticeable shimmer in the world. This may be a totally obvious statement, but outside of bright bathroom lights, it looks a lot more toned down. I'll definitely keep wearing it.

Another con for me is that most of the shades are a little too crazy for me. I just wouldn't feel comfortable wearing a purple or bright pink eyeshadow, kind of, ever.

What do you guys think of Glossier Lidstar?
