the perfect liquid blush: ellis faas blush pens review (+ life update)

Well, it's been a hot second, hasn't it? Sorry for the unexpected break! All I can say is--if you're in the mood for the perfect skin-like blush and have been wondering what I've been up to, read on!

No-makeup-makeup lovers, I give you the Ellis Faas blush pens...
Ellis Faas Blush Pen*

I have such a love-hate relationship with blush because of my rosacea, but now that I'm getting that under control, I have been hardcore diving back into the world of blusher. I find that it's one product that can really quickly make you look like you're too "made-up" and that applying the right amount of blush is a really hard balance to strike.

But never fear: a great blush formula takes out so much of the guesswork with blushers. I love the Ellis Faas blush, which comes in a twist-up silver pen format, because it's an incredible texture. It's thin but somehow still creamy--and it's creamy but somehow still lasts all day. It seriously has the best staying power of any blush I've ever tried--it even outlasts powder blushers.

You only need to dab a teensy tiny amount of this onto your cheeks as this baby is seriously pigmented. Start out by applying so much less than you think you'd need. This blends beautifully with fingers, but I also love applying with a stippling brush so that I don't disturb the foundation/concealer I've got beneath it.

I've swatched the shades below for you (I give you my permission to laugh at my horrible swatching skills). Even though shade 303 Soft Bronze looks scary when swatched, it actually blends out beautifully. I love applying this on my lids as well as my cheek bones for the perfect "boy-beat" makeup look.

These shades from left to right are 301 Warm Dusty Pink, 302 Fresh Coral, 303 Soft Bronze, and 304 Mulled Wine.

These were kindly gifted by the brand, but as always, I wouldn't recommend them if they weren't actually great.

Now, for the life update...I got stricken down with the worst case of tonsillitis (well, really the second-worst I've ever had, as I didn't have to get a shot of antibiotics in the butt this time) that really had me down and out for three weeks. Now that I'm feeling a bit better, I'm trying to give the house an "autumn clean"--sort of a significantly belated spring clean for those of us who are champion procrastinators. Do you have any house cleaning tips? Also, in expat world, I am hopefully taking my UK driving test soon. It'll be my first ever practical driving test and I'm honestly bricking it.

That's all for now, folks! What's your favourite blush formula?
