Being the basic bitch that I am, I'm a sucker for millennial pink. So the sleek colour scheme and packaging of Lixir Skin, plus a tempting ingredient list, drew me in.
Read on to see if Lixir Skin is worth the hype...
Lixir Skin Electrogel Cleanser
The innovative approach to cleansing is what drew me to the Electrogel Cleanser. It claims to be a night-time cleanser and detoxifying mask in one.
It is a thick-ish white cream texture. You're instructed to apply a generous layer to damp skin, massage it in for a minute, and leave it on for another minute. It claims to help reduce the effects of pollution and to calm down stressed-out skin.
This cleanser is solidly ok. It's not great, it's not horrible. It doesn't do an amazing job of removing makeup (especially mascara) and it didn't calm down my skin in any noticeable way. I actually felt like it sometimes irritated my skin and broke me out.
Would I repurchase? No. Worth the hype? No.
Lixir Skin Vitamin C Paste
This is another innovative product, the like of which I'd never come across before. It's a slightly grainy paste that's meant to be a flash-mask vitamin c treatment.
You're meant to apply a pea-sized amount and spend a minute massaging it into damp skin. Then leave it on for a few minutes and rinse with a clean towel.
I really like that you can apply this under and around your eyes and even on your lips. I found that it tingles a bit when you put it on your lips. As someone with chronically dry and flakey lips, this really helped to get the patchiness under control and to have a consistently smoother, less flakey situation going on there.
I think it made my skin a bit brighter, but nothing to write home about. After two months of consistent use, I didn't notice a big change in my skin.
Would I repurchase? No--although I did like the effect on my dry lips. Worth the hype? Not for me.
Lixir Skin Universal Emulsion
This claims to be a super basic moisturiser that ticks all your boxes: it can be used under eyes, on your hands, even on your lips. You're supposed to massage until your skin feels "sealed".
I never really got that "sealed" feeling--but this is a good basic moisturiser with some plumping properties. Nothing life changing, however, and if you apply even a hair too much, it pills up.
Would I repurchase? No. Worth the hype? Again, not for me, as I need something more nourishing and calming. This might work better for oilier skin types. I think this would be amazing for girls and guys in their teens who don't need any heavy-duty skincare yet.
Have you guys tried these products? What are your thoughts?
Oh I’m so sad that these aren’t more effective :/ I’ve been wanting to try them out, but I guess I’ll hold off
