I love a red lip all year round--but I think there's something so special and festive about rocking a red lip this time of year. So this week is....RED LIP WEEK!
Every day this week, I will be featuring a new red lipstick with pictures of how it looks on my pigmented lips and fair skin tone. I hope you guys enjoy! Let me know if there's a red lip in particular you'd like to see!
This week...it's the Fenty Beauty Stunna Lip Paint! Regular readers will know that I'm a huge fan of the Fenty Beauty Skin Stix--they just look so natural on the skin. I was so excited when they announced the Stunna Lip Paint, although I was dubious about the release of just one "universal" shade. However, since the Gloss Bomb universal shade went down so well that I decided to give it a try.
So how does it perform?
The Fenty Beauty Stunna Lip Paint wears exceptionally well throughout the day. It truly is a liquid lip that you can rely on. It just lasts for ages. It even lasted through a greasy pizza dinner and still looked undisturbed. The colour also really suits me. On my fair skin tone (with neutral/olive undertones), it reads as a true red. Not too orange, not too blue. I love it. I've been googling around, and it seems like on darker, warmer skin tones, it reads more warm and orangey, and on fairer, cooler skin tones, it reads as more of a blue red.
Any drawbacks?
I am not a professional makeup artist (obvs) and I found it a bit difficult to apply the first time I used it. Like the Kat Von D & Chanel liquid lipstick formulas, it "migrates" a little bit toward the lip line after you apply it, before it "sets". The moral of the story is apply less than you think you need. I used it with the NYX Suede Lipliner in Alabama and that helped guide me as to where I exactly wanted my lip line to be and where I therefore needed to apply the lipstick.
The only other drawback for me is that even though Rihanna says this is a red lipstick that can survive a make-out session, I can unfortunately report that it did not. TMI! For some reason, it survived the pizza and the wine, but not the smooching.
What's the verdict?
If you're not sure about whether the colour will suit you, pop into Harvey Nichols or Sephora and try it on. But you can be sure that this is a red lip you won't have to worry about reapplying, no matter how much festive feasting you do.
Have you guys tried this? What are your thoughts?
